Verify IEEE citations

IEEE uses bracketed numeric references and abbreviated venues, and frequently cites arXiv preprints by ID. A real arXiv identifier attached to the wrong title is a classic failure mode — the ID looks authoritative even when the paper it names is different.

What goes wrong in IEEE bibliographies

  • Conference papers cited as journal articles and vice versa
  • arXiv IDs that point to different preprints than the cited title
  • Numbered references reordered without renumbering the text

Partial — real source, fields differ

arXiv:2005.14165 is a real preprint — but it is “Language Models are Few-Shot Learners” (GPT-3), not a robotics paper. We resolve the ID and warn that it names a different work than cited.
